Coaching: An Actors Guide to Public Speaking

All the worlds a stage

In a world where automation and AI are so prevalent, it's now, more than ever, so important to be able to connect on a personal level. It's why I have created this course. Working with people I so often hear

  • When I speak the words get caught in my throat.
  • When I speak I feel like I'm boring people.
  • There is a part of me that's so scared to get up in front of people.
  • When I'm up there the adrenalin takes over and I talk too fast.
  •  I forget what I'm going to say and waffle
  • I let others speak because I don't know to get a word in edgeways

If you recognise your self in any of these, then maybe my course is for you. Taking what I've learned from years in the performance industry, I have made an 8 part course, where we will take you through the fundamentals of engaging the vocal system, to learning and retaining what you're going to say in that big meeting to classic acting techniques on stage presence to change how you relate to the room.

Find growth in action!

This programme is a mix of warm up and vocal exercises, and performance and rehearsal techniques. You will be in your body and on your feet for most of it with practical exercises guided by me. Each week we will focus on a different aspect of performance and by the end of the course you will be able to hold the spotlight like the best of them!

Part 1: Centre the breath

Learn how to let the breath drop in a diaphragmatically breath. The breath is at the heart of all performance, so we will start by gaining greater control of yours.

Part 2: Warming up the articulators

You're voice is an instrument, an your articulators are the keys. learn a full spectrum warm up to fine tune your articulators so you're ready to speak with confidence!

Part 3: Connecting the voice to the breath

We know how to drop the breath, but how so we connect the breath to the voice, learn to wield a voice that doesn't strain your vocal chords, but can fill a room with a controlled ease.

Part 4: Resonate with your audience

We will work on how to resonate in different parts of your body, allowing the voice to to be projected out of all of you, allowing your words to carry with more authority.

Part 5: Musicality of the voice

We will work with different text to find how the musicality of your voice helps your points land, even if the subject is dense

Part 6: Holding space with presence

We will work with posture and tempo to help you enter and hold  space with just your presence and inner tension.

Part 7: Project manager

We will work on how to project without shouting. combining skills we have learned along the way, how does a supported voice and held presence create a way of speaking that fills a space without shouting.

Part 8: Combine and integrate

We will create mock situations where we have you pitch your ideas, argue your points and negotiate in a "hostile environment" putting all your learned to the test and stretching your new skills.
